Summit 14 is Andrew
Lock's quest to climb all fourteen of the world's highest peaks. With ten 8000'ers
under his belt and just 4 to go, Andrew is dedicated to finishing
this outstanding quest.
|
Success has not come easily. He
has survived avalanches, crevasse falls, frostbite, bivouacs at extreme
altitude without equipment and watched friends perish. He has led teams of
inexperienced people to the summit of Everest and some of the most
inhospitable environments on earth. His exceptional achievements in the face
of such adversity have demanded supreme levels of endurance, motivation and
leadership.
But that is not all. As
expedition leader and training officer with the Australian National Antarctic
Research Expeditions, he has instructed, trained and led expedition members to
some of the most inhospitable locations in the world, including leading a team
of 52 personnel on a 5 month scientific research expedition to the wild and
storm swept, World Heritage listed Heard Island.
And as a business owner himself,
Andrew has experienced and understands the issues that matter in business -
personnel development and motivation, risk assessment, team work, realistic
goal setting and achieving those goals, communication, leadership, dealing
with conflict and more.
These experiences have empowered
Andrew to enthuse others, both individually and in groups. A sought after Key
Note Speaker, he imbues his accomplishments with a strong message of teamwork,
motivation and achievement. He has thrilled audiences from 50 to 500 at public
presentations, business seminars and international conferences. Clients have

Andrew Lock's quest is to be the
first Australian to climb all of the world's Fourteen highest peaks. Once
completed, this historic undertaking will rank him as the greatest Australian
climber of all time.
Already Andrew is the only
Australian to have successfully scaled 10 of the world's 8000 meter peaks.
Four of these climbs were first Australian ascents, including 3 solo ascents
and he has twice summitted Mt Everest.
Ascending the summits of the
8000 meter peaks has brought Andrew international acclaim and already places
in him in a class of his own in Australia.
Australian companies and
organizations are now invited to invest in Andrew's historic undertaking.
Succeeding on those ten 8000 meter summits has taken 10 years of unrelenting
effort, sacrifice and dedication but Andrew has committed to complete the
ascents of the remaining four 8000 meter mountains.
The final phase of this quest,
which he has named Summit 14, is expected to take approximately two years and
requires an Olympic style training regime, extraordinary motivation and months
at a time away from family and friends. No other Australian has ever attempted
such an undertaking.
Andrew Lock is recognized as one
of Australia's most competent Mountain Climbing and Remote Area trekking
guides. His expertise as an international expedition leader and logistician to
destinations around the world is highly sought after, with a resume that
includes leading successful expeditions to Heard Island, Central Asia, South
America, Mt Everest's summit and remote areas of nearly every continent on
earth.
As the most accomplished high
altitude mountaineer in Australian history, his achievements include climbing
Mt Everest twice and ten of the world's fourteen 8000 meter peaks, more than
any other Australian, placing him in a select group of the world's best
alpinists. His 8000 meter summits include:
