Dan Mazur: Adventure Speaker

Here is a photo of Dan and Krzysztof Wielicki on the summit of Island Peak. Krzysztof Wielicki is probably one of the most famous living Polish climbers. He climbed the South Face of Lhotse (seen in the background). I am not sure if he summited. Also, he climbed Kangchenjunga in Winter with the legendary Jerzy Kukuczka.

Teamwork and leadership are guiding force to the life of Dan Mazur, a 44-year old expedition leader and motivation.  A professional guide who has lead commercial expeditions around the world knows how to get the best out of his clients. He brings this same determination and wisdom to companies and organizations throughout the world.    Most companies like the connection that Dan has on the issue of leadership as being one of the most successful mountain climbers and guides from the United Sates.  

Dan’s true character recently came out when he gave up his summit bid on Mt. Everest to help rescue fellow climber Lincoln Hall of New Zealand who was left for dead.    Through this act of kindness Dan has been featured in the world press discussing the ethics of mountain climbing.   Media have ranged from Dateline NBC, The Today Show, People Magazine, National Geographic Adventure, Outside Magazine, BBC, CNN and many other media outlets around the world.

Climbing Magazine named Dan the "most successful American to ever launch an expedition". As an articulate but humble Himalayan explorer and scholar, Daniel has been active in climbing the highest peaks of the Himalaya for many years. His personal link with the region and its peoples began in 1986 when he traveled and trekked throughout Tibet and Nepal with friends, then in 1991, joined together with Anatoli Boukreev and friends to ascend Mount Everest followed by 7 of the world's highest 8000 meter peaks, including Everest, K2, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Shishapangma, and Gasherbrum 1. He has been leading and organizing successful and safe overland, trekking, and mountaineering expeditions for 18 years, to Tibet, Nepal, Tadjikistan, Pakistan, India, China, Africa, and North America.

Dan's written, photographic, and cinematic works are featured in London Alpine Journal, American Alpine Journal, Ito-Yuki Journal of the Japanese Alpine Club, Himalayan Journal, High Magazine, Climbing Magazine, Climber Magazine, the London Independent Newspaper, the London Guardian, On the Edge Magazine, Outside Magazine, Rock and Ice Magazine, Vertical Magazine, NBC Television, The Discovery Channel, and EverestNews Website. Dan is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, a member of the Alpine Club, and The Mountaineers.

Dan learned to climb in the Himalaya on a commercially organized expedition, where they attempted to climb the 3 highest mountains in the then Soviet Pamirs, and did succeed in climbing one peak: 7105 meter high Korjenevskaya.

Dan spends more and more of his time lecturing and raising funds for the Mount Everest Foundation, building hospitals, schools, and environmental projects with the low-income families who live around Mt. Everest.  Dan splits his time between England and the United States
